Abstract

This report presents forecast and recent quarter review of Taiwanese feature phone shipment volume, shipment value, ASP, volume and share by maker and by price point, and manufacturer volume ranking. The report also includes product mix analyses, including phone type, system technology, display color count mix, embedded camera and camera array format, and handset shape. Assembly levels, production locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios are also examined. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with feature phone makers. The report finds that the Taiwanese feature phone industry, which enjoyed sequential growth in shipment volume and value in the third quarter of 2011, began to see declines in the fourth quarter of 2011. With decreases in both shipment volume and ASP, the industry's shipment value witnessed sequential and year-on-year drops in the first quarter of 2012 as a result. Owing to Taiwan makers' shift of focus to Smartphones and other factors, the Taiwanese feature phone industry is forecasted to see sequential and year-on-year shipment volume and value decreases in the first half of 2012.
